Half Acres Primary School is a popular Community Primary School in Castleford. Children enter full-time education in September and transfer to a local high school at the end of Year 6.
The school educates children between the ages of 3 and 11 years. The building was adapted in 1993 to be a Junior and Infant School. In 2009 the school changed status to a Primary School and in 2012 it was federated with Ackton Pastures Primary School in Castleford. In 2016 the building was extended in order to become a two form entry school.
Half Acres has an Early Years Unit accommodating 60 full-time Reception children and currently 39 part-time Nursery children. This Unit also has a special fenced outdoor learning area.
To the rear of the building is a large playing field belonging solely to the school.
